Grand Central Station Walking Tour

Grand Central Terminal is a major staple here in New York City. Since the weather while our parents were here was full of rain, we wanted to find something to do inside. We landed on taking the Grand Central Terminal walking tour. Ashley and I had seen most of the spots on the tour, because we love to explore on our own, but mom and dad loved it!

This year was the 100th Anniversary of the Terminal. There have been special celebrations all year.

Brunch at Bocado

We took our parents to have Brunch at Bocado. It was right across the street from their hotel. Ashley had been there before, and she was so excited to take us there.

We always start our day with coffee!

My waffles were absolutely to die for, and they had homemade whipped cream!

Mom had an avocado and goat cheese omlette. She was so excited, and absolutely LOVED it!

9/11 Memorial

The 9/11 Memorial is one of the most peaceful places in NYC. Both Shelby and I had visited it before but this was the first visit for our parents. In order to visit you have to get tickets but they are free.

"The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations.
The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history."

This is Freedom Tower - now the tallest building in North America

The sound of the waterfalls is beautiful and I think it is a perfect way to pay tribute to the thousands of lives lost.

Lombardi's Pizza

The best pizza place in New York City, in my opinion, is Lombardi's. They started in 1905 and claim to be NYC's first pizzeria. They are very old school as they only take cash and offer very simple pizza's just like they do in Italy.

My favorite is the White Pizza but the original Margherita Pizza is also very good. We were so excited to eat our pizza that we forgot to take photos of it, whoops.

Lombardi's is a must stop in New York City but this place is not a secret and there can be very long waits at times so aim to visit during off peak hours.

Dinner at The Boathouse in Central Park

One of our favorite places to eat is the Boathouse in Central Park! Our parents take us there pretty much every time they come to the city. The food is wonderful, and we always have such a great view. This was such a fun way to spend the second half of my graduation celebration!

The chicken I had just melted in my mouth!

For dessert we got a chocolate cocoa cream tart with blood orange sorbet! It was absolutely delicious.

On our way out of the park to catch a cab we took the long way around to see the famous Bethesda Fountain. This beautiful archway is right there. It has amazing acoustics, and was so fun to take pictures in.

We had such a fun day, and I couldn't have thought of a better way to spend my graduation!

Afternoon Tea at the Plaza Hotel

As some of you may know, I graduated this week from FIT with my associates degree. The one thing I wanted to do to celebrate was go have tea at the Plaza Hotel. The Plaza is my favorite place in New York City, and having Afternoon Tea there is my ABSOLUTE favorite. Mom and I have been before, but this was Ashley and Dad's first time to have tea there. They loved it!

Ashley and I get the "Eloise Tea". It's really meant for kids, but who isn't a kid at heart!

Our tea includes Grilled Cheese and Peanut Butter and Jelly.

As you can tell we were so happy, and we were having a great time!

How cute are they!?

Where are your favorite places to have tea!?
